- 1 whole turkey (12–14 pounds)
- 1 cup unsalted butter (softened)
- 4 cloves garlic (minced)
- 2 tbsp fresh thyme (chopped)
- 2 tbsp fresh rosemary (chopped)
- 2 tbsp fresh sage (chopped)
- 8 cups stale bread cubes
- 1 cup chopped onions
- 1 cup chopped celery
- 3 cups chicken broth
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 325°F (160°C) and prepare a large roasting pan.
- In a bowl, mix softened butter with minced garlic and chopped herbs.
- Gently loosen the turkey skin and spread the herb butter underneath.
- In another bowl, combine stale bread cubes, sautéed onions, celery, and enough broth until moist but not soggy. Stuff the turkey cavity with this mixture.
- Place the turkey breast-side up in the roasting pan. Roast for about 13 minutes per pound, basting every hour.
- Cook until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C). Let rest for at least 30 minutes before carving.
