Description

Fried Cabbage and Sausage is a comforting dish that brings together the savory goodness of sausage and the crispiness of sautéed cabbage. This easy-to-make recipe is perfect for busy weeknights, delivering a hearty meal that’s both budget-friendly and nutritious. As the sausage caramelizes, it infuses the cabbage with rich flavors, resulting in a delightful balance of textures—crispy cabbage mingling with juicy sausage.

Ingredients

Scale

1 pound smoked sausage or kielbasa, sliced

½ medium head green cabbage, chopped

1 medium onion, diced

3 cloves garlic, minced

2 tablespoons olive oil

Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced sausage and cook for about 5 minutes until browned on both sides. Remove from skillet and set aside.

2. In the same skillet, add diced onion and minced garlic. Sauté for 4 minutes until softened.

3. Stir in chopped cabbage and season with salt. Cover and cook for about 8 minutes until tender.

4. Return the sausage to the skillet, mixing everything well. Simmer uncovered for an additional 5 minutes to meld flavors.

Notes

Feel free to add bell peppers or carrots for extra color and nutrition.

Use turkey or plant-based sausage for a healthier twist.
