Description

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine water, butter, sugar, and milk until melted; bring to a simmer.
  2. Remove from heat and stir in flour and baking powder until a smooth ball forms.
  3. Allow the dough to cool slightly (about five minutes); then add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition followed by vanilla extract.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a deep frying pan to 375°F (190°C).
  5. Pipe the dough into swirls in the hot oil and fry until golden brown (about 2-3 minutes per side).
  6. Drain excess oil on paper towels and glaze if desired.
