Ingredients
  

Apple Filling
  • 4 cups sliced apples Granny Smith or Honeycrisp
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice to prevent browning
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar adjust based on apple sweetness
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour to thicken
Crisp Topping
  • 1 cup old-fashioned oats
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar packed
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
Serving
  • 4 scoops vanilla ice cream for serving

Method
 

Prepare the Apple Filling
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). In a mixing bowl, combine sliced apples, lemon juice, granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and flour. Toss until apples are evenly coated.
  2. Transfer the apple mixture to a 9-inch baking dish, spreading it evenly.
Make the Crisp Topping
  1. In a separate bowl, mix together oats, flour, brown sugar, melted butter, and salt until crumbly.
  2. Sprinkle the crisp topping evenly over the apple filling in the baking dish.
Bake
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes, or until the apples are tender and the topping is golden brown.
  2. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
Serve
  1. Serve warm with scoops of vanilla ice cream on top.
