Ingredients
  

Chicken
  • 1 whole whole chicken about 4-5 pounds
Beer
  • 1 can lager beer or your favorite beer
Spices
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper optional for heat
Vegetables
  • 1 cup carrots cut into sticks
  • 1 cup potatoes cut into chunks
  • 1 cup onions quartered

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the grill to medium heat (about 350°F).
  2. In a bowl, mix together olive oil, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, salt, and cayenne pepper.
  3. Rub the spice mixture all over the chicken, including under the skin.
  4. Open the beer can and drink or pour out half of the beer. Place the can inside the beer can holder.
  5. Insert the chicken onto the beer can, ensuring it stands upright.
Cooking
  1. Place the chicken on the grill, away from direct heat, and close the lid.
  2. Cook for about 1.5 hours or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F.
  3. During the last 30 minutes, add the carrots, potatoes, and onions around the chicken on the grill.
  4. Once cooked, carefully remove the chicken from the grill and let it rest for 10 minutes before serving.
