Ingredients
  

Tuna Salad Base
  • 2 cans tuna drained
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise or Greek yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice freshly squeezed
  • 1 tablespoon dill fresh or dried
  • 1/4 cup celery finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup red onion finely chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Sandwich Assembly
  • 8 slices whole grain bread
  • 4 leaves romaine lettuce
  • 1 medium tomato sliced

Method
 

Prepare Tuna Salad
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the drained tuna, mayonnaise, lemon juice, dill, celery, red onion, salt, and pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly combined.
  2. Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary.
Assemble Sandwiches
  1. Lay out 4 slices of whole grain bread on a clean surface.
  2. Spread a generous amount of the tuna salad mixture on each slice.
  3. Top with a leaf of romaine lettuce and a slice of tomato.
  4. Place the remaining slices of bread on top to complete the sandwiches.
  5. Cut sandwiches in half and serve immediately or pack for a picnic.

Notes
