Ingredients

Vegetables
  • 1 pound fresh green beans trimmed
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
Nuts
  • 1/3 cup sliced almonds toasted
Condiments
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice freshly squeezed
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper to taste

Method

Prepare the Green Beans
  1. Bring a pot of salted water to a boil. Add the green beans and blanch for 3-4 minutes until bright green and tender-crisp. Drain and immediately transfer to a bowl of ice water to stop cooking.
Sauté the Garlic
  1. In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
Combine Ingredients
  1. Drain the green beans from the ice water and add them to the skillet with the garlic. Sauté for an additional 2-3 minutes until heated through.
  2. Stir in the lemon juice, salt, and pepper. Toss to combine.
  3. Remove from heat and sprinkle the toasted almonds on top before serving.
