Ingredients
  

Pasta
  • 12 oz Pasta (e.g., fettuccine or linguine)
Sauce
  • 1 cup Heavy cream
  • 1 cup Fresh peas Frozen peas can be used as a substitute
  • 1 lemon Zest and juice
  • 1 tbsp Olive oil
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, grated Plus more for serving
Garnish
  • 2 tbsp Fresh basil, chopped Optional

Method
 

Cook the Pasta
  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water, then drain the pasta in a colander.
Prepare the Sauce
  1. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  2. Pour in the heavy cream, lemon zest, and lemon juice. Stir to combine and bring to a simmer.
  3. Add the fresh peas and cook for 3-4 minutes until tender. Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese and season with salt and black pepper to taste.
Combine and Serve
  1. Add the drained pasta to the skillet with the sauce. Toss to combine, adding reserved pasta water as needed to reach desired consistency.
  2. Serve immediately, garnished with additional Parmesan cheese and chopped basil if desired.

Notes

For a lighter version, substitute half and half for heavy cream.
